Hi @jjsarn1 ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Officejet 6600 e-All-in-One Printer is printing but not copying, it could be a hardware or software issue specific to the scanner/copier function. Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:
1. Check the Scanner
Since copying requires the scanner, ensure the scanner is functioning correctly:
- Place a document on the scanner glass.
- Press the Scan button and attempt to scan the document to your computer.
- If scanning fails, the issue may be with the scanner hardware or software.
- If scanning works, the problem may be related to the copier function.
2. Restart the Printer
Perform a power cycle to reset the printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for 1-2 minutes.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
- Try copying again.
3. Verify the Copier Settings
Ensure the copier settings are correct:
- Use the printer's control panel to initiate a copy.
- Check if the correct paper size and type are selected.
- Ensure the original document is properly aligned on the scanner glass.
4. Clean the Scanner Glass and Lid
Dirt or smudges on the scanner glass or the white underside of the scanner lid can interfere with copying:
- Turn off the printer.
- Use a clean, lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water or glass cleaner to clean the scanner glass and the underside of the scanner lid.
- Dry it with a lint-free cloth.
- Turn the printer back on and test copying again.
5. Perform a Printer Reset
- Press the Setup button on the control panel.
- Navigate to Tools or Printer Maintenance and select Restore Factory Defaults.
- Confirm the reset and wait for the printer to restart.
- Reconfigure any required settings and test the copy function.
6. Update the Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer
Outdated firmware might cause functionality issues:
- Download the latest firmware for your printer from the HP Support website.
- Install the firmware on your printer using the on-screen instructions.
- Test copying again.
7. Run a Diagnostic Test
- From the printer control panel, navigate to Setup > Tools > Run Copy Diagnostic.
- Follow the prompts and check for any error messages or issues.
8. Perform a Partial Reset
A partial reset can resolve issues not fixed by other steps:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Press and hold the # and 3 buttons on the control panel.
- While holding the buttons, plug the printer back in and turn it on.
- Release the buttons once the printer starts.
- Reconfigure the printer settings and test copying.
