macOS 10.14 Mojave

My OfficeJet Pro 6968 keeps crashing when I try to scan and first intermitantly and now all the time .I have a MacBookPro with a 10.14.6 operating system.

The message I get is "Scanner Reported an Error. 

OfficeJet Pro 6968 is currently unavailable. 

Please check if it is turned on and connect or try later

Does the issue occur only while scanning?

Which app do you use to scan from your MAC?

 

Let us try these steps to resolve this issue:

 

Restart the wireless router, the printer, and the MAC

 

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest firmware from your MAC.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

 

Also, check for any software updates on MAC

Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.

 

Try using the HP Easy Scan or Apple Image Capture to scan and check if the issue persists.
