My fax machine will not answer the distinctive ring

My fax has its own number and distinctive ring that I set to answer after two rings. The fax  no longer answers at all. I have tried and retried the setup sequence. Not sure what the problem is.

What Distinctive Ring pattern is assigned for your fax number by your phone provider?

Be sure to set the Distinctive Ring value to the correct rings pattern for your printer, change it first to All Rings and check if it then answers, next change it to the correct pattern as assigned for your fax number by the phone provider.

Be aware that Rings to answer is the number of rings, Distinctive Rings is the ring pattern assigned to the fax number.
