I cancelled my instant ink account as my printer head needs replacing and at a cost of $180, I went out and bought a Canon. However, I am trying to scan with the HP device which I paid for and OWN. The printer won't even turn on! I have read reviews discouraging Instant Ink subscriptions and I think I now know why. I own this printer and understand that without using their ink cartridges I can't print but I think I should be able to use the scanner function. Anyone know how to resolve this?

Thanks for using the HP Support Community.

 

The printer is in an error state, that's why it is not able to scan.   This printer is more than 3 years old?
