I started on these instructions and found that, even though I had just uninstalled/reinstalled printer drivers, the printer wasn't there. I have just unintalled and am in the process of reinstalling. I am on the "Internet Procy Settings" screen. I've been unsuccessful with this screen every time I've installed the drivers and just thought it wasn't necessary, that I don't use HP web services. Maybe I'm wrong on this?

When I choose a proxy service isn't necessary, it's unsuccessful. If I choose to use a proxy servier, I need to provide information I don't know.

I'm on this screen now and wondering what I should do. In the past I chose not necessary and finished. Is this a problem? How should I proceed.

Thank you for troubleshooting this with me.

I guess I'm not sure how to do this. I keyword searched proxy services last week when I reinstalled drivers and still don't know what to do. I don't know if I have a proxy server, but when I click I don't need it, I get a warning it's unable to connect to the internet. I've just checked all connections and wifi is working. The cable going from the printer to the router has a solid green light and a flashing yellow light.

Warning tells me to retry with different proxy settings. I don't know what, if any, they might be, so I can't procees beyond this screen unless I select 'cancel', which is fine unless this is part of the problem. I've not been successful in finding this information with a keyword search on where to look. Once I get to Network and Internet, I'm supposed ot click on "Proxy" which doesn't appear as an option.

Thank you for sticking with me, talking me through various options. After pm, I stepped away and made a cup of hot tea. Returning and ready to give up for now, since I had just reinstalled drivers, I checked for printer which was there and then clicked on the scanner and it's now working. I downloaded HP printer drivers four times and, since I didn't do anything differently, I think for some unknown reason, they weren't downloading properly and they finally did. I was pretty sure it was a technical issue, though I didn't know what. It's a mystery, but solved. Thank you. Raj2111.
