No Copy Icon in HP Smart App.
perhaps the most basic operation for a printer to do - COPY ? and could not find it... Is it a Joke ?

No Joke. True.
HP Smart Mobile - at least iOS for iPad - provides the Copy extension on the main menu.

HP Smart Windows does not provide the Copy option in the main menu.

If your printer is in the network,
If the printer supports the Embedded Web Server (EWS),
Use EWS to view / configure your printer options.
General Example - EWS - Copy Defaults
Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar
Tab Copy > Settings > Default Settings / Copy Defaults (wording can vary)
