Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

HP OfficeJet 4650 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I understand software changes and interfaces get made to look new, but I finally got used to the old software and then suddenly there was an "error" that I had to download an HP fix which then led to the old link on my computer taking me to a "setup" program instead of the driver program I had really become efficient using.

HP Smart was always an option, but it is so much slower, less intuitive, and it feels like it has less settings to tweak.

I have to scan maybe 100 pages a week. Sometimes it's single sided, but sometimes it's multi page documents and the old program used to have a checkbox I could select to collate in the document feeder. Even closing out the program and restarting with items ready to go in the document feeder doesn't help.

Why would HP take away ANY features? Adding new ones? Sure. Changing the place to find them, I mean, if you have to. WHY is this feature either missing or so hard to find that I had to google it, come here and check the forums, then write something in support to find it.

Please don't tell me that it's no longer available. WHY WOULD THAT HAPPEN? It makes no sense. There are dozens of issues I have with this program, but now I have to feed the whole thing back through and drag and drop and wait for the program to show me the result of each drag and drop to make sure I have it right?

ANOTHER thing is the delete page function. The old software let me "delete" a page but keep it in the current project, then I could "undelete it" which meant I could feed a stack of items through, then one by one undelete the ones I wanted to create a new file for and it was much more efficient.

I tried downloading the "full version" of the software, but when I went to connect to my printer it says MY BROWSER is out of date and I have to use HP Smart. It's up to date. All of my browsers are up to date. I feel slighted. I feel wronged. I didn't ask for the program to update and I have to use the program to use the product. If someone can tell me how to fix this or where these seemingly lost settings can be found, please help.

If someone is just going to say sorry, those no longer exist, I'd rather that HP person get to work putting those features back in ASAP.

It makes absolutely no sense to remove those features (and they DID exist for my printer because I used it almost daily).

Welcome to the HP support community.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Community.

Hello. Thank you. The answer from the HP employee was simply "contact us directly" which I've already done which resulted in "use the HP Community" so...am I being given the run around?

Does a collate function exist?

My PRODUCT may have an expired warranty because it's more than two years old but the software shouldn't keep me from using features that already existed. Now I'm forced to use the HP Smart app in Windows 10, despite having three different up to date browsers.

Look...I want to use the collate feature that was available at one time and is no longer. HP Smart doesn't have it. I've already tried contacting support directly and they point me here.

I feel I must bring this to further attention...

My problem is NOT with the hardware. It is with the software. Why am I not allowed to contact HP directly since my hardware is "out of warranty" when it is the software that is causing the issue?
