I know the warranty has expired on my HP Envy Photo 7855 printer so I'm not asking for repair or replacement. My printer has recently, often times, started making a grinding sound when printing even though it will complete the task. Has anyone else encountered this issue and, if so, was it able to be fixed? I love the printer and hate to get rid of it until it completely stops functioning.

Hi @Joanne1942,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds frustrating to deal with a grinding noise from your printer, especially when you’re otherwise satisfied with it. The HP Envy Photo 7855 is generally a well-regarded printer, but mechanical issues can occasionally arise. Here are a few common causes and potential fixes for the grinding noise:
Check for Paper Jams: Sometimes, small pieces of paper or debris can cause a grinding noise. Inspect the paper path, including the paper tray and rear access door, for any obstructions.
Examine the Cartridges: Ensure that the ink cartridges are properly installed and not causing any obstruction or friction. Remove and reinsert them to make sure they are seated correctly.
Clean the Printer: Dust or debris inside the printer can cause noise. Gently clean the inside of the printer with a soft, lint-free cloth. Be cautious around the moving parts.
Check the Printer Rollers: The rollers that feed the paper through the printer can sometimes become worn or dirty. If they are dirty, clean them with a slightly damp cloth. If they are damaged, they might need to be replaced.
Inspect the Printer’s Gear Mechanism: Sometimes the gears that drive the paper and cartridge movement can become misaligned or dirty. This might be a bit tricky to fix on your own, but checking for obvious signs of misalignment or damage might help.
Update Printer Firmware: Occasionally, firmware updates can resolve issues related to the printer’s performance. Check HP’s website for any available firmware updates for your model.
Reset the Printer: Performing a factory reset might help if the issue is software-related. Be sure to back up any necessary settings before doing this.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
