HP OfficeJet Pro 8025 All-in-One Printer

Everything worked fine last week but when I tried to scan a document today thru the HP Smart app I got the "feature unavailable" message.  I followed all the steps in the support video.  And retried scanning after each step.  Still nothing.  The virtual assistant is worthless and I can't "speak" to anyone.  So hopefully someone here can help.

Thank you

Hi @Sup3rtw3rp ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025 was working fine before, and now scanning suddenly stopped working with the "feature unavailable" message in the HP Smart app. Since you've already followed the support steps and tried troubleshooting, let's go a bit deeper.

Try These Steps:

1. Restart Everything

  • Power cycle your printer: Turn it off, unplug it from power for 1-2 minutes, then turn it back on.
  • Restart your computer and router (unplug them for 30 seconds).
  • Try scanning again.

2. Check HP Smart App Permissions

  • Open Windows SettingsAppsHP Smart.
  • Click Advanced Options → Make sure "App Permissions" (Camera, Files) are enabled.
  • Restart HP Smart and try scanning.

3. Use Windows Scan Instead

  • Open Start Menu → Type Windows Fax and Scan → Open the app.
  • Click New Scan and check if your printer is detected.
  • If it works here, the issue is likely with HP Smart.

4. Reinstall HP Smart App

  • Uninstall HP Smart from Windows Settings.
  • Download and install the latest version from the Microsoft Store.
  • Re-add your printer and try scanning.

5. Update Printer Drivers

  • Go to HP’s website and download the latest full software package for the OfficeJet Pro 8025.
  • Install it and restart your computer.

6. Run HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor (link).
  • Follow the on-screen instructions.

7. Enable Webscan (If Network Printer)

If your printer is on WiFi:

  • Open a web browser → Type your printer’s IP address.
  • Go to SettingsSecurity → Enable Webscan.
  • Try scanning again.

8. Check Windows WIA & Services

  • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, press Enter.
  • Scroll down to Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) → Right-click → Restart.
  • Also restart HP services (HP Network Devices Support, HP Print Service, etc.).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
