It looks like the issue you're facing with the OCR (Optical Character Recognition) feature on your HP DeskJet printer is likely due to software compatibility or missing components. Here are some key findings and steps to help you resolve it:

Key Issues Identified

  1. Missing OCR Component: Some HP printer drivers no longer include OCR functionality by default. This means the OCR feature might not be available unless you install additional software.
  2. HP Smart App Recommended: HP now recommends using the HP Smart app for scanning and printer management. It can be downloaded from the Microsoft Store.

Steps to Fix the OCR Issue

1. Uninstall Old HP Software

  • Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features.
  • Uninstall any existing HP printer software (especially HP Scan and Capture).

2. Install HP Smart

  • Download and install the HP Smart app.
  • Add your printer to the app using a USB or network connection.

3. Enable OCR with HP Universal Scan

  • Download and install the HP Universal Scan software, which includes OCR capabilities:
