Not surprised... In that "5.0" package, the driver version for the Photosmarts is 4.0.5 - the same you get when you download from apple...

Thanks for providing the screen shots @La_Biode.

According to the document for the Printer and scanner software for macOS Sierra, El Capitan, Yosemite, and Mavericks this model is supported for printing and scanning.

Are you still able to print but just not scan?

Try connecting the printer by a USB cable to the Mac and running the Apple Updates. Check to see if you have the option to scan now.

Keep me posted. Thanks!

If the Phtosmart is installed over USB it will install correctly, with the scan functionality.

That still does not enable the scanning over network.

When installing the device over network, it is announced as a "Bonjour" printer, and not as a "Bonjour Multifunction" device.

As a result, it does not set up the scanning functionality over network.

I tried the resetting of the printer system. But also was not succesfull to fix the scanning feature for my Photosmart C5100.

My photosmart is connected via ethernet. Also, i'm not interessted in a "solution" where I have to use an USB cable, that is unacceptable since I have my printer located nowhere near my computer.

Thanks for providing that information and the screen shots @La_Biode.

Since the printer can print and scan over a USB connection, it is most likely the network driver or the scan ports on the router.

If this printer wasn't setup previously over this network, the scanning ports might not be open on the router. You can contact the router company to check and open these ports 9220/9500/427 on the router.

Then try adding the printer again over the network.

Let me know the outcome. Thanks!

It scanned fine over the network - until upgrade to macOS Sierra.

This has nothing to do with the network ports on the router.

yeah, the only thing that has changed for all of us is the new macOS. So apperently there is an issue with osx communicatin g with the HP driver to enable all the featues of our printers. A shame HP didn't catch this issue during all those months  macOS Sierra was in beta.

Thanks for letting me know that everything was working previously to installing the upgrade. I had asked that in my previous post to rule that out.

I would suggest to setup the printer as a USB connection so you will be able to print and scan until there is a new updated driver available for scanning over the network with Sierra.

Thanks!

My network configuration is fine. Everythings worked (scan and print) before the macOS upgrade. Now just print is working.

@Gemini02: How many time do you think it will take to fix this issue? Is there a ticket openned in HP's bug tracker to follow the progression?

It's a big problem for me.

I can work only by network even if the USB connection works...

Thanks!

Indeed! An ETA for a fix would be very nice. Are we looking here at days? weeks? months?!?
