Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

OfficeJet 4500 G510 Scanner-Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an old -but still perfectly operational- OfficeJet 4500 G510 all-in-one printer scanner, connected to my LAN.

Several computers, all running Windows10, detect the printer on the network, but only ONE detects the device ALSO as a scanner: all others won't.

The ONE computer that operates the scanner somehow installed HP's general "Photosmart All-in-one printer-scanner" driver. All the others, at any new attempt, install the default "OfficeJet 4500 G510" driver, which doesn't seem to detect the scanner over the network (it does, though, operate the device as scanner if the printer is connected via USB cable).

How can I fix the problem with the OfficeJet 4500 driver ? Or, instead, how can I download and install on all other computers the same general PhotoSmart driver that I have on the other PC, which apparently is the only one that works?

@MagoWiz

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you are unable to scan, I am glad to assist you.

There is no full feature driver available for this printer model.

You will have to install the printer only using a Windows builtin driver:- Click here, you can only print using this driver

However, you can use HP Scan and capture application to scan:- Click here

Keep me posted.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

@Sandytechy : Thanks for the suggestion, but maybe I wasn't clear. I did (several times!) let windows install the "HP OfficeJet 4500 g510g-m" built-in driver, which as you say does configure the network printer, AND I did install HP's Scan and Capture Application, too. Unfortunately, this Application DOES NOT detect the scanner service on ht network (while it does when I run it from the other computer, the one that somehow got installed the "HP photosmart all-in-one printer-scanner" driver instead).

The problem is NOT the scanner App. The problem is  that the new built-in driver that is installed by Microsoft Windows does NOT configure the PC to detect the scanner function from the network, as the previous driver (now no longer available) did.

@FerRX: Thanks for the old driver package. Unfortunately, it did not install (it stucks at passage 7 of 8).

I may have not been exact, though: the driver I need is the one for the OJ4500 G510g-m (not the a-f).

Wouldn't you happen to have that one, too?
