We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide Format All-in-One Printer

Since upgrading to MacOS Sonoma 14.1.1, HP Easy Scan cannot connect to the scanner. Printing works on the OfficeJet 7740, but scanning says "Scanner reported and error. An error occurred while communicating with the scanner." Searching the internet, I am not the only one having the problem. Downloading the recent Easy Scan update does not resolve the problem. When is HP going to update the Easy Scan software for MacOS 14.1.1 and what are the installation instructions? For example, do we need to delete the old version before installing the new version?

Check for Software Updates: Make sure that you have the latest version of HP Easy Scan installed. Visit the official HP website or use the built-in update functionality in the software to check for updates.

Verify Scanner Connection: Ensure that the scanner is properly connected to your computer and turned on. Check cables and connections to make sure everything is secure.

Restart Your Devices: Sometimes, a simple restart of both your computer and the scanner can resolve connectivity issues.

Check for macOS Compatibility: Confirm that the version of HP Easy Scan you are using is compatible with macOS 14.1.1. Visit the HP website for information on software compatibility.

 

When updating software, it's generally a good practice to uninstall the old version before installing the new one. However, some software installers may handle this automatically.

Thank you for your reply. 

 

Before reaching out, I had restarted both the computer and the printer/scanner. I checked the HP website for updates, downloaded the latest version of HP Easy Scan and installed it. The problem seems to be with the WiFi connection. The printer and scanner functions both worked prior to installing MacOS 14.1.1. After upgrading to the MacOS 14.1.1, the printer worked, but the scanner did not. I had checked the HP Easy Scan compatibility and the HP website said it was compatible with MacOS 14, but apparently not or else not with 14.1.1. Searching the internet, I found several posts where people had called Apple support and Apple acknowledged that Sonoma had broken the HP scan function, and that HP needed to upgrade their software to the latest version. That is why I reached out. Any idea when HP will update the scanner function for the Sonoma version?

Hello:

I recently upgraded to 14.2.1 and cannot directly print to my HP 7740. HP said it is no longer supporting this printer and there is no wide format ink jet replacement. Can you confirm?

I can print and scan through the HP Smart app for the mac but it is more difficult and does not support specialized software formats.

If this is not correct and HP will still support this OS with this model, when will the patch or update be released?
