HP Smart doesn't scan as editable text. Apparently HP deleted tht feature from post 2022 drivers.  Weird. How can I make this printer do that?

Hi @TonySi

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand the editable text (OCR) scanning feature is removed from HP Smart in post-2022 drivers, but there’s still a way to enable it!

How to Scan as Editable Text on HP OfficeJet Pro 8035e

1. Install HP Universal Scan Software

  • HP now requires HP Universal Scan for OCR functionality.
  • Download it from HP’s support page.
  • Install the software and restart your computer.

2. Use HP Scan Instead of HP Smart

  • HP Scan includes OCR but is not part of HP Smart.
  • Open HP Scan and select Save as Editable Text (OCR).
  • Choose Rich Text (.rtf) or Text (.txt) as the file format.

Let me know if you need help setting this up! 🚀
