HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 All-in-One Printer

I'm observing weird behavior with my Officejet Pro 9010 since a few days.

I have configured "Scan to network folder" to scan to a Windows share in my network. This worked and works perfectly when scanning exactly one page. However, when I scan more than one page at once (e.g. two-sided original, or two pages after each other):

- The printer throws an error after 10-15 seconds: "Cannot write to \\fileshare\Scans. This folder is read-only, has the wrong permissions or is no longer available." (maybe the original english message is different - I configured my printer/scanner for German)

- The *first* page of the scan does appear in the network folder; the subsequent pages don't reach the server.

I already tried to re-setup the configuration, I already tried to use another server / another network share. I already tried to use IP address instead of the hostname - no success.

I'm pretty sure that I don't changed anything in my setup recently - however, I'm not sure that the printer didn't do any kind of firmware update recently automatically. My installed firmware is MANHTNPP1N002.2242A.00 from 2022-10-13. Is it possible to downgrade the firmware? I'd like to do some regression testing.

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you are getting scan to network error, I am glad to assist you.

Follow these steps to fix the issue:-

  • From the Control Panel please click on Uninstall a Program.
  • Click on Install/Remove Windows Features from the left pane.
  • Locate SMB1.0/CIFS and ensure it is marked with a V mark with all 3 options below checked.
  • Confirm any change and restart your PC as prompt.
  • Now perform a test and check for any difference.

Let me know how it goes.

@Sandytechy20:

Thanks a lot for the detailed procedure, I could follow without problems.

Sadly, I have to report that the problem still persists with the same error message.

Any further ideas?

I'm not yet sure whether one to one interaction can solve this problem, however, I'll check how much money this might cost.

For the community, I want to add that I did further testing and found out that this issue only occurs, when I use the auto feeder. When I scan page by page manually i.e. using the document glass (sorry, translation might be not correct), then everything works fine.

So, for me it looks like a firmware regression. So again my question, is it possible to rollback to an older firmware?

Hi @derheimi,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 All-In-One Printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

To answer your question: We do not have the option to roll back the firmware. However, we may try a semi-full reset to restore the printer back to its original settings.

The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.

I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Community profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link.

I hope that answers your concern adequately. Let me know!

Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution. Click the “Kudos/Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!
