Hi all, my self built Desktop Drafting setup is an "AMD AORUS X670E Extreme fully loaded system Ryzen 9-3D" running Linux Opensuse Leap 15.6, The printer was setup manually and recognized under hplip-3.23.8 software.
Pinging the network, I get my 192.168.X.XXX but the Scanner is "Device not Found".
Have tried to direct connection USB and Network connection via my router with & without 'Firewall' security but to no avail. Has anyone any suggestions?
Auto "hplip-3.23.8.run" installation or later versions all failed @ result:- "Permission denied".

HI @TECMATE,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like you're encountering issues with scanning on your HP OfficeJet Pro 9730e printer from your Linux system. Here are some steps and suggestions to help you troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:
1. Check HPLIP Version Compatibility
- Ensure you have the latest version of HPLIP that supports your HP OfficeJet Pro 9730e. Sometimes, newer printer models may require an updated version of HPLIP for full functionality.
- Visit the HPLIP website to download the latest version or use your Linux distribution's package manager to check for updates.
2. Verify Network Connection
- Ensure your HP OfficeJet Pro 9730e is connected to the same network as your Linux desktop. Use the printer's control panel to verify the wireless or wired (Ethernet) connection.
- Double-check the IP address assigned to the printer (192.168.X.XXX). Ping the printer from your Linux terminal to ensure there is communication.
bash
Copy code
ping 192.168.X.XXX
3. Configure Firewall and Security Settings
- Temporarily disable any firewall or security software on your Linux system to see if they are blocking the scanner. If disabling resolves the issue, configure exceptions or rules to allow communication for the HP printer software.
4. USB Connection Troubleshooting
- If you've tried connecting via USB and encountered issues, ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the printer and your Linux desktop.
- Check if the printer is recognized by your Linux system using the lsusb command in the terminal:
bash
Copy code
lsusb
- Look for an entry that corresponds to your HP printer.
5. Check SANE (Scanner Access Now Easy)
- Verify that your Linux system has SANE installed and configured properly. SANE is necessary for scanning functionality on many Linux distributions.
- Install SANE if it's not already installed:
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
