Hi @Repete34,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Officejet Pro 8020 printer is working but the scanner is showing as not connected, there are several troubleshooting steps you can take.

  • Restart the Printer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues. Turn off the printer, wait for a few minutes, and then turn it back on.
  • Check Connections: Ensure that all cables connecting the printer to your computer or network are securely plugged in. If you're using a wireless connection, ensure that the printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.
  • Update Drivers: Outdated or corrupted printer drivers can cause connectivity issues. Visit the HP website to download and install the latest drivers for your printer model.
  • Check Scanner Settings: Make sure that the scanner is enabled on the printer's control panel. You may need to navigate through the printer's menu to find and enable the scanner function.
  • Restart Computer: Sometimes, issues can arise on the computer's end. Try restarting your computer to see if that resolves the problem.
  • Firewall/Antivirus: Check if your firewall or antivirus software is blocking communication with the scanner. Temporarily disable them to see if it resolves the issue. If it does, you may need to add an exception for the scanner in your security software settings.
  • HP Print and Scan Doctor: HP provides a free diagnostic tool called HP Print and Scan Doctor, which can automatically diagnose and resolve printing and scanning problems. Download and run this tool to see if it can identify and fix the issue.
  • Firmware Update: Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. Sometimes, firmware updates include fixes for connectivity issues.
  • Reset Network Settings: If you're using a network connection, try resetting the printer's network settings and reconnecting it to your Wi-Fi network.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I have tried unplugging printer, rebooting printer, unplugging USB Cable, changing USB connections - nothing works to connect to scanner.  I have uninstalled HP Smart, removed printer and reinstalled.  I can copy, I can print but I can not connect to scanner.  Please Help
