Officejet Pro 8022 NOT scanning anymore via HP SCAN EXTENDED

Hi,
when trying to Scan (after a while not using the scan option) I frequently receive 
'Fehler beim Scannen' - englisch: 'Error while scanning' 

when I am trying to start a scan with HP SCAN EXTENDED.
Scanning from the printer TO the PC works fine. - Printer is connected via WIFI network.
Printing runs fine.

Here is my troubleshooting to get OCR scan running last year::

(These old post handles an issue, that HP has changed the technical specification from OCR feature to NON-AVAILABLE OCR feature with THIS printer type. Since my dealer posted (and I downloaded) the former specification showing the OCR feature I finally received intense WhatsApp Support via HP and the OCR feature could be used.)

I do NOW need again OCR scanning....
Any idea what to do?

HP Scan Extended is a subset of a full driver circa 2015.

Although not a "supported software package", HPSE is freely available (details and link posted later in this message).

Does it work?  Usually Yes - and it works for a lot of different printers, too.

In many new printers, HPSE is not necessary - except, as you say, it can provide OCR .

More importantly (for a few people, at least) is the support for auto-detect boundaries for documents and images placed on the printer flatbed.

Important

Regardless that it installs by itself, HPSE is not "stand alone".

HPSE is dependent on the Full Feature Software having been installed for the printer.

If your full driver printer software is not healthy (fully functional), HPSE may fail, balk, act strange, or otherwise misbehave.

If your full driver printer software is healthy, HPSE can still develop its own problems.

Both or Either "Full Driver" and / or "HP Scan Extended" can be uninstalled from Programs and Features.

After the software is installed, Restart the computer and log in.

First >> Download-save-install the full driver > Restart the computer and log in

Next >> Download-save-install HP Scan Extended > Restart the computer and log in

Method - Use the Easy Start Wrapper to Install the Full Feature / Full Driver Software

For printers that support the option,

Use the Easy Start wrapper to install and configure the printer software.

• Home Page - HP Easy Start 
• Open Category Software and Drivers 
• Topic: Software-Utility 
• Download-and-Save  the current version of the Easy Start wrapper to install your print software 
• If using USB:  Disconnect the USB cable between the printer and computer before installing the software.

• Right-Click on the downloaded package and "Run as Administrator" to start the installation

• Select to install the “Full Driver” / “Full Feature Software”
• If using USB:  Connect the cable when instructed to do so (near the end of the installation process).
• After the software is installed, Restart the computer and log in.

Notes >> Easy Start... The Journey

1. About 2/3 of the way through the setup, you will be given the opportunity to select the software - select the "Full Driver" set (as opposed to the basic driver or other application).

1. You can skip / ignore suggestion(s) that you add the HP Account – you’ll need the account at some point, for now, you can skip this suggestion (as many times as it insists it’s a good idea) during the full driver software installation.

1. If you see it, you can skip / ignore suggestion(s) regarding Instant Ink subscription.  Instant Ink subscription is NOT mandatory.

1. Full driver provides print and scan functions supported by your printer.

• HPSE features are very similar to the HP Scan Software released after 2015.

• Download-Save-Install >  NAPS2 
• Not another PDF Scanner – free program scans PDF files and image(s) as .jpeg or PDF file(s).
• Includes an OCR feature – may need Ghostscript add-on (See NAPS2 forum entry)
• Read the Support pages for information
• Download, save, and install the NAPS2 software to use.
