Being unable to open the paper tray, I pushed to two release buttons on the extender tray to remove it. This allowed me to place printing paper in the paper try. Now I'm unable to reattach the tray extender. Can you please tell me how I might do that?

Hi @KathyBow,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
If you're having trouble reattaching the paper extender to your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 after removing it, here’s a step-by-step guide to help you reattach it correctly:
Steps to Reattach the Paper Tray Extender:
Align the Tray Extender: Make sure the paper tray extender is aligned properly with the printer’s paper output tray. Check that both the left and right sides of the extender line up with the corresponding slots or grooves on the output tray.
Check the Release Buttons: When you removed the tray extender, you pressed the release buttons. To reattach it, ensure that the release buttons (on either side) are not locked in the "pressed" position. They should be free to engage once the extender is in place.
Insert the Extender at an Angle:
- Tilt the front edge of the extender slightly upwards.
- Slide the back of the tray extender (the part closer to the release buttons) into the printer’s output tray.
Push Gently but Firmly: Once the tray extender is aligned and inserted at an angle, push it in gently but firmly until it clicks into place. The release buttons on either side should engage automatically, securing the extender.
Check for Proper Engagement:
- Once attached, the tray extender should not wobble or come off easily. If it feels loose, it may not have been attached properly.
- Try gently pulling it out slightly to see if it is securely attached.
Test by Extending and Retracting: After securing the tray extender, try extending it out to its full length and then retracting it back in. It should move smoothly without resistance.
Tips:
- Avoid Forcing It: If the extender does not seem to attach properly, avoid forcing it. This could damage the extender or the printer’s tray. Check for any obstructions or misalignment.
- Refer to the Manual: If you still experience trouble, refer to the user manual for specific diagrams or instructions related to the paper tray extender.
If you've followed these steps and the extender still won't attach, there may be an issue with the extender itself or the locking mechanism on the printer. You may have to contact phone support.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
