Ever since I bought my printer/scanner, the top scanner (where you can put several in at a time to scan in one document) it will not feed the papers through. I have no choice but to scan 1 document at a time, under the glass. If I can not get this fixed by the end of the week I am going to have to end up purchasing a whole different kind of scanner/printer/copier. It is essential for me since I work from home and having to scan everything individually takes up a lot of time extra time. If anyone can help me I would really appreciate it. Other than that issue I love the printer.

Hi @Jenn5683,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your printer's scanner is not feeding papers through the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF), here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:
Troubleshooting Steps
Check for Paper Jams:
- Open the ADF cover and check for any paper jams or obstructions. Remove any stuck paper carefully.
Clean the ADF Feed Rollers:
- Dust and debris can accumulate on the rollers, preventing them from gripping the paper properly. Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water to clean the rollers.
Inspect Paper Quality:
- Ensure you are using the correct type and weight of paper. Avoid using wrinkled, torn, or excessively thick paper, as these can cause feeding issues.
Adjust Paper Guides:
- Make sure the paper guides in the ADF are adjusted to fit the size of the paper you’re using. If the guides are too wide or too narrow, it can cause feeding problems.
Check Paper Stack Height:
- Ensure you’re not overloading the ADF. Load only the recommended number of sheets (usually around 10-20, depending on the model) and ensure the stack height is within the ADF’s limits.
Update Printer Drivers:
- Ensure your printer drivers are up to date. Visit the HP website to download and install the latest drivers for your printer.
Run the Printer’s Self-Diagnosis:
- Some printers have a built-in diagnostic tool. Check your printer’s settings or the HP Smart app for a self-diagnostic option.
Reset the Printer:
- Power off the printer, unplug it for about 30 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes clear temporary errors.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
