Hi @whychevy,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet 8620 printer is not recognizing a new wireless network and you are receiving an error indicating "MAC filtering is enabled," it suggests that your printer may be having trouble connecting to your Wi-Fi network due to MAC address filtering settings on your router. MAC filtering is a security feature that restricts network access based on the MAC addresses of devices. Here’s how to address this issue:

1. Verify Router Settings

Access Router Settings:

Connect to Your Router:

  • Open a web browser on a device connected to your network (laptop, smartphone, etc.).

Enter Router IP Address:

  • Type the router’s IP address into the browser’s address bar. Common addresses include 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1. Press Enter.

Log In:

  • Enter the router’s admin username and password. If you haven’t changed them, they may still be the default settings (check your router’s manual for default credentials).

Check MAC Filtering Settings:

Navigate to Wireless Settings:

  • Look for a section related to Wireless Settings, Wireless Security, or MAC Filtering.

Review MAC Filtering:

  • If MAC Filtering is enabled, check if the MAC address of your HP OfficeJet 8620 is listed. The MAC address is a unique identifier for the printer and can usually be found in the printer’s network settings or documentation.

Disable or Modify MAC Filtering:

  • Disable MAC Filtering: Temporarily disable MAC Filtering to see if it resolves the connection issue.
  • Add Printer MAC Address: If you prefer to keep MAC Filtering enabled, add your printer’s MAC address to the allowed list.

Save Settings:

  • Save any changes you make and reboot the router if necessary.

2. Reconfigure Printer Network Settings

Connect to New Network:

Access Printer’s Network Setup:

  • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to the network or wireless settings. This may be found under a menu like Setup, Network, or Wireless.

Select Wireless Setup Wizard:

  • Use the Wireless Setup Wizard to search for available networks.

Select New Network:

  • Choose your new network from the list of available networks.

Enter Network Password:

  • Enter the Wi-Fi password for the new network.

Confirm Connection:

  • Confirm the settings and ensure that the printer connects to the network.

Print Network Configuration Page:

  1. Print Configuration Page:
    • Print a network configuration page from the printer to verify it has connected to the new network successfully.

3. Restart Device

  • Power off the printer, wait a few seconds, and then power it back on.
  • Restart your router to ensure all settings are applied and the network is operating correctly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
