Scanner won't scan from the All-in-One or from the computer app.  Printing from computer to printer works fine.

If your HP All-in-One printer prints fine but won’t scan (either from the control panel or the computer app), the issue is usually software or communication-related rather than hardware.

Here’s how to fix it:

 

1. Restart Everything

  • Power off the printer and unplug it for 60 seconds.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

 

2. Check Connection

  • If using Wi-Fi, ensure the printer and computer are on the same network.
  • If using a USB, disconnect and reconnect the cable to a different port.

 

3. Update or Reinstall HP Software

  • Go to Official HP® Support and download the Full Feature Software and Drivers for your printer model.
  • Uninstall the current HP software from your computer.
  • Reinstall the latest version.

 

4. Check Windows Services

  • Press Win + R, type services.msc.
  • Ensure Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service is running (needed for scanning).

 

5. Try HP App

 

6. Test Scanner Hardware

  • On the printer’s control panel, try Copy or Scan to USB (if supported).
  • If this fails too, it may indicate a hardware issue.
