HP Envy Photo 6255

Recently installed my new printer but cannot get the copy/scan/setup controls to work. What other connection did I miss? Printer prints when doing so from my computer. Am wireless, button lit up.

Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Support Forums.

I came across your post and would like to help.

I understand that you have an HP ENVY Photo 6255 All-in-One Printer and the printer is unable to copy and scan. I read that the printing is fine. I'll do my best to help you.

Do you receive any error while trying o scan or copy?

Do you see if the scanner bulb beneath the glass bed is glowing and moving to scan/copy a document?

While you respond to that, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

  • Disconnect the power cable from the printer while the printer is still ON.
  • Disconnect any other cables if connected the printer.
  • Press and hold the printer’s power button for 15 seconds.
  • The printer should be directly connected to the wall outlet and not to a surge protector.
  • Reconnect the power cable to print and the printer should power ON by itself. If the printer doesn’t power ON then please manually power it ON.

Once again you may attempt to make a copy. If the scanner bulb is not glowing and not moving across to copy the document then it points towards a hardware issue with the scanner. In such a case you may reach out to our HP phone support team to check the available service options.

Hope this information helps. Please feel free to keep me posted on the results.

Good luck! 🙂
