Hi,
My computer recognizes my scanner (so I can scan using my computer), but my scanner doesn't recognize my computer- so I can't scan using the electronic screen on my scanner. The error message I get is "no computer found".
I believe the way to fix it is via HP Smart, which I installed yesterday. But it didn't help.
And in fact, I don't know how to configure HP Smart to make this work.
When I check HP Smart, it tells me that the Wireless status is "Connected". When I go to Settings/Advanced Settings I get a screen called "Scan to Computer- Webscan." A comment below tells me that ' With Webscan, you can scan photos and documents from your printer to your computer using a web browser. This feature is available even if you did not install the printer software on your computer." Well I did install the printer software on my computer- isn't that what HP Smart is, and besides- I don't want to use a web browser to connect between my printer and computer, if at all possible, for privacy reasons.
I note that in Applications, when I click on my scanner, it displays HP Utility. When I click on it, the error message is that the original item for HP Utility can't be found.

@AnnPiece, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
I understand you are not able to scan from the printer screen to the MAC. Let us try these steps to resolve this issue:
Check for any software updates on MAC
Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.
1.) On your Mac, click Finder, click Applications, click the Hewlett-Packard or HP folder, then double-click HP Utility. (If HP Utility is not available, download and install the printer essential software from here)
2.) Under Scan Settings, click Scan to Computer, then make sure the Enable Scan to Computer check box is selected.
3.) Try 'scan to the computer' from the printer.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
