Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My Laserjet MFP M479 FDW isn't able to send faxes and receives a "no answer" message whenever it sends.  I have tried sending it to itself and it still gives the answer.  I have pinged it via Command Prompt and the pings have been received.  I have tried calling the number via phone and gotten a fax noise in response.  When I ran a Fax Test it returned that it couldn't find a dial tone, and when I troubleshooted with this https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_2056491-1981513-16 check list it still has the same problems.  Please help.

My past experience with these types of errors usually comes down to:

1. Bad phone line or phone cable. I know you stated you were able to call the fax machine, you need to connect a standard telephone to the line and try to make a call. If you get no dial tone, try a different cable. If it still does not work you likely need to engage your phone provider as a mis-wired jack is a good possibility.

2. Make sure the phone line is plugged into the correct jack on the back of the fax machine. Connecting to the wrong jack will allow some operation but not all operations to work.
