Hello

The past couple of days we have an issue with one printer , while it works normally (fax, printer etc) it doesn't scan anything.

I did try scanning with the program HP provides, when promt to scan then wait while the process is started it stayed in the loading bar for a good 2 minutes. After that an error message pop'ed up that asked me to use the doctor to check for problems.

I did use the doctor twice to check for any issues.

The doctor did locate the printer, and started a loading bar .

Both times at around 95-97% percent (doesnt have percentages on) got stuck and didnt go on any further.

I waited for around 10 minutes and nothing happened , both times i had to use the task manager in order to close the doctor.

My next action was to restart and unplug my printer from the pc, to remove from add/remove programs the 2 HP things i saw installed and then restart my pc.

I downloaded from HP website the firmware and program of HP etc once again.

I installed them all good.

I checked from device manager for any updates the printer needed and asked from windows to search the internet for it .

I got the message that the printer had the latest updates (ofc it did but i checked just in case)

I printed a word page with a few letters all good, i asked for a scan of that said page ,same issue.

I run the doctor and this time it did finish the loading part. Every checked box was green except for the drivers which were red (cause it couldnt locate them? woot).

The program asked me to unplug the printer restart both the printer and the pc, which i did.

When both started again the problem was still there.

The next 3-4 attempts to run the doctor ended with the previous same result , not finishing the loading bar and getting stuck there till i closed the program from the task manager.

After that i stopped and am writting this.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Are you able to copy?

Let's try to do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:

Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo

14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

15.) Restart the computer.

Once done, please download and install the software from here:

Hello and Happy New year.

Sorry for the absence but due to holidays we were closed i couldn't to check it.

Unplugged all usb devices.

1. I did look in the programs tab for the HP programs but it wasn't shown there to remove.

I looked on my own on program files and program files 86 and in both there were HP programs there. Which i deleted , i saw no uninstall option in the files.

2. I did look for my printer  in devices and printers , i found it and delete it.

3.I did look for my printer with printui.exe /s found it and delete it.

Another thing occured though, there was another tab with the same printer as fax, which when i tryed to remove it wasn't possible.

It told me it was used and i couldnt do anything about it.

I did a computer restart, i downloaded again from the link the drivers.

Installed it, i tryed to do a scan from the machines interface it said the computer did not respond.

I did a print and it worked perfectly.

Downloaded and installed doctor again it showed red  on HP scan and no drivers for it found ;/

Try one of these methods for scanning:

  • HP Smart app (Windows 10): Search the Microsoft Store for HP Smart to find and install this app. For more information, go to Using the HP Smart App (Windows 10).

  • HP Scan and Capture app (Windows 10, 😎: Scan documents or photos from the printer or webcam. A full feature print driver must be installed on the computer. For more information, go to Using the HP Scan and Capture App (Windows 8 and 10).

  • Windows Scan app (Windows 10, 😎: Search the Microsoft Store for windows scan to find and install this app.

Let me know if this helps.
