HP ENVY 6052e All-in-One Printer

AT&T installed fiber optic and new wireless box.  In HP Smart, printer is online and can print; however scan message says "Scanning currently unavailable".  Tried to re-install HP Smart but it said I already have the latest version.  Version is 156.1.1125.0

Hi @werbranches ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP ENVY 6052e is connected to the Wi-Fi for printing, but the scanning feature is not working after the new AT&T fiber optic setup. This issue may be related to network settings, software configurations, or permissions.

Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the scanning issue:

1. Check Firewall and Antivirus Settings

Sometimes, firewall or antivirus settings can block scanning functionality. Ensure that your firewall or antivirus isn't blocking HP Smart or the scanner connection.

  • Temporarily disable your antivirus/firewall and try scanning again.
  • If scanning works, you may need to create an exception for HP Smart in your firewall/antivirus settings.

2. Reset the Printer Network Settings

After a new Wi-Fi setup, it's a good idea to reset the printer's network settings to ensure it's connected properly to the new network.

  • On the printer control panel, go to Settings > Network > Restore Network Defaults (or similar options).
  • Reconnect the printer to your new Wi-Fi network by following the setup instructions.

3. Ensure HP Smart is Running Correctly

Even though you have the latest version of HP Smart, there might still be an issue with the app’s connection to the printer.

  • Close HP Smart, restart your computer, and then reopen the app.
  • Make sure that the printer is listed as online and try scanning again.

4. Reinstall Printer Drivers

Sometimes, reinstalling the printer drivers can fix scanning issues.

  • Uninstall the printer in HP Smart and also from your PC’s printer settings.
  • Go to HP's official support page for the ENVY 6052e and download the latest drivers and software package for your printer.
  • Reinstall the drivers and try scanning again.

5. Check Printer Permissions

Ensure that the necessary permissions are set for scanning.

  • Open HP Smart, go to Settings > Scan and verify the settings.
  • Make sure that no settings are blocking scanning, and try selecting a different scan mode or destination (e.g., scanning to your computer directly).

6. Use Windows Scan App

If HP Smart continues to have issues, try using the built-in Windows Scan app:

  • Open Windows Scan from the Start menu.
  • Select your printer and see if you can scan directly using the app.

7. Restart Your Router and Printer

Sometimes a simple restart of the router and printer can help resolve network communication issues:

  • Unplug your router for about 30 seconds and plug it back in.
  • Restart your printer as well.

8. Check for Updates

Even though you've confirmed HP Smart is up to date, it's still worth checking for firmware updates for the printer itself:

  • Go to the printer's Settings > Printer Maintenance > Check for Updates and apply any available updates.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
