Printer works fine but Scanner says connection to printer has been lost

Well I hope you don't give up on me.  I've put a lot of time in this and getting nowhere.  I did everything you suggested, as you suggested and ran in to the same problem I had before.  When I install the new drivers, etc., there is a problem connecting.  It says it is unable to retrieve Network Name and wireless password.  Then I am stuck at that panel and no recourse.  In the previous panel it asks if the panel on the computer says connected and what strength.  When I click on the network button it says "wireless summary" and shows me my computer name and IP address, nothing about strength.   I don't know what else to do.  I really hate the idea of getting a long USB cable to hook the printer to my computer (ugly, messy and very 20th century).

I have also lost the icon which was on my task bar (it looked a little like a pair of scissor blades) and I used to clic on to start my scan. And I cannot find that icon anywhere. What has happened to it?

I cannot possibly follow all this technical stuff- and even that does not work for people- can't we just have it back?

Hi Riddle,

I did all what you say and I can't delete my old ¨HP Photosmart 6510. I still can see it in the HP print and scan doctor utility.

Any way I still believe that HP Smart is bugged because with the HPscan.exe version 49.1.4589, is working fine.

This scan software is even better, but I liked HP Smart because all was integrated inside.

So, I think we have to wait that HP developpers would like to correct their software!

Finally, I found how uninstall the HP photosmart 6510. For the HP Smart same problem!
