HP Smart Tank 7302 All-in-One

I keep getting a "printhead error" message when attempting to print using both the black and color ink.  I have done everything possible to resolve this issue including: reseting the printer, reinstalling printhead (for which I spent an additional 75$ for, the printer worked for 2 days and error message returned), updating hardware, and checking ink cartridges.   My printer is out of warranty.  Very disappointing.  Any suggestions?   HP technician please contact me directly.

Hi @zigzag22,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand that your HP Smart Tank 7302 is repeatedly showing a printhead error, even after resetting the printer, reinstalling the printhead, updating the printer, and checking the ink.

Since the replacement printhead worked for only two days before the error returned, I understand why this is frustrating.

At this point, I would avoid repeating the same printhead replacement steps.

Please check the following:

  1. Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cable.
  2. Remove and reinstall the printhead, making sure it is fully seated and locked in place.
  3. Check the printhead contacts and carriage area for any visible ink buildup or debris. Avoid touching the electrical contacts directly.
  4. Power the printer back on and check whether the printhead error returns.

If the error persists after these checks, please provide the exact printhead error message/code shown on the printer or in HP Smart.

Best regards,
Kuroi_Kenshi
