OfficeJet 3830
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The WIA service is set to Automatic startup but it is paused.  I am not able to stop, resume or restart the service. After pressing stop, I get the popup message "Windows could not stop the WIA service on the local computer. The service did not return an error. This could be an internal Windows error or an internal service error."

Previously when I got this error message - problem connecting to scanner - I uninstalled and reinstalled the printer software and that resolved the problem for several days, now I am having the issue again.  Do you have any advice?

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Support Community.

Try these steps :

Method 1: Scan to look for the device if it is not detected.

a.            Click Start. Click Run and type “devmgmt.msc” (without quotes) in the open field, and then press Enter.

b.           Click to select your computer as the location for the scan in the menu bar.

c.            On the Action menu, click Scan for hardware changes.

d.           Close the Device Manager window and restart the computer.

Method 2:  Uninstall any installed drivers\software for the camera. Log on to the scanner manufacturer website and update the latest driver\software for the device and check if it helps.

Method 3:  If you are still unable to start the “Windows Image Acquisition” service, perform a system file check for any system file corruptions. To do so, follow these steps.

a.            Click Start, All programs and then Accessories. Click Command Prompt.

b.           In the Command Prompt window type “sfc /scannow” (without quotes) and then press Enter.

c.            After the scan has completed, close the command prompt window, restart the computer and check for the issue.

Hope that helps!
