Hello,
Since Friday, my HP Deskjet 2050 printer has been having issues when scanning documents. A completely black stripe appears on the left margin of the paper, as shown in the attached file I’m sending you.
I have already tried using HP's own software to check if it was a driver issue, but nothing was detected. I followed the instructions from an HP video to turn off the printer, unplug the power cable from both the outlet and the printer, and turn it back on after 15 seconds.
The issue persisted. I repeated the process mentioned above and cleaned the scanner glass and the white part above it using a screen cleaner and a soft cloth. That didn’t help either. Do you know how I can fix this?
I look forward to your response.

Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Dirt or Debris on the Scanner Glass or White Backing
Even after cleaning, small smudges or dust particles can still interfere. Suggest cleaning again using a lint-free cloth with a mild glass cleaner, ensuring no streaks or residue remain.
Scanner Sensor Issue
If the stripe appears in the same place on all scans, the scanner sensor may be malfunctioning or misaligned.
If possible, suggest trying a scan via another computer to rule out software issues.
Driver or Firmware Issue
Ensure the printer drivers and firmware are fully updated. Glauber already checked the driver, but a full reinstallation could help.
They can download the latest drivers from HP’s support website.
Check for External Light Interference
If the scanner lid is not fully closed or there’s external light exposure, it may cause scanning anomalies. Have them test scanning a solid-colored sheet (like a blank black or white page) to see if the issue persists.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hello,
I believe that this problem with the printer's scanner is not so simple to solve just by cleaning it.
It seems to be either a problem with the scanner lamp or the laser unit itself.
So I don't think these procedures will solve the problem in my case.
I spoke to 2 technicians and they confirmed that the problem with these scanners is more complex and requires specialized maintenance.
