Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended

Hi,

A client of ours is using a 3rd party software to manage their documents. One of the feature of the software is the ability to use TWAIN to initiate a scan from their HP MFP M276dw printer, and the resulting scanned document is saved on the software directly.

This was working fine until last week, when the resulting scanned file is saved as TIF as opposed to PDF.

I thought I'd be able to find a setting related to the file type on the scan profile, but I cannot find any. And each profile seems to have a preset settings, i.e. Color Document scan results in TIF file format, Black and White document scan results in BMP file format.

This is the scan profile window that shows up when the "Acquire" button on the software is pressed.

Is there anywhere else where I can find the setting to change the format of the scanned files? I've already contacted the tech support of the 3rd party software, but they said that the program does not control the scan settings at all.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Hi Zoey7886,

Thank you kindly for the link. Unfortunately, this solution doesn't work for our situation.

This part does show up, but I don't see all the scan settings that are mentioned below

Flathe2118_2-1742486232183.png

The Scan Size, Output type, and Resolution are there, but not the other two. Is Item type is the one that I need to change the scanned file to PDF?

This is what ours look like,

@Flathe2118, It looks like you're troubleshooting an issue where TWAIN scanning from an HP MFP M276dw printer through third-party software is saving scans as TIF instead of PDF. Since the software’s tech support has confirmed that it doesn't control scan settings, the issue likely lies in the HP scan settings.

Check HP Scan Software Settings:

Open HP Scan on the computer.

Look for scan profiles (shortcuts) and see if there is an option to change the output file type.

If available, set it to PDF.

Modify TWAIN Driver Settings:

Access the HP TWAIN driver interface (this might be under Printer Properties in Windows).

Look for an option related to file format and change it from TIF to PDF.

Check Windows Scanning Settings:

Open Windows Fax and Scan or Scan app and check if you can change the format to PDF.

Sometimes, default Windows settings can override TWAIN scanning preferences.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
