Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

How do I get HP smart to give me immediate access to the scan option like the old HP used to be.  The first screen I get is the blue screen with rotating, floating disks and then the screen with a picture of the printer and the models information.  Once I click on the printer, the page refreshes to another page that sometimes gives me the scan option and sometimes does not.  All of this takes too long to process.

Hi @13JoyP

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand the concern—having to wait through multiple screens before reaching the scan option can feel unnecessarily slow. Let’s work through steps that will help you get quicker access to scanning in the HP App:

Steps to streamline access to Scan:

Update the HP App
Ensure you are running the latest version of the HP App. Updates often improve performance and reduce loading delays.

Set the Printer as Default

  • Open the HP App.
  • Select your printer from the home screen.
  • Look for the option to “Set as Default.”
This ensures the app always opens directly to your chosen printer, reducing refresh delays.

Pin the Scan Shortcut

  • Once the printer is selected, locate the “Scan” tile.
  • Right-click (Windows) or Control-click (Mac) on the tile.
  • Choose “Pin to Home” or “Add Shortcut.”
This places the Scan option on the first screen so you don’t need to navigate further.

Use the Taskbar/Start Menu Shortcut (Windows)

  • After opening the Scan window once, right-click the HP App icon on the taskbar.
  • Select “Pin to Taskbar.”
  • Next time, launch directly from this shortcut to reach the Scan option faster.

Check Connection Type
If the printer is connected via Wi-Fi, delays can occur during detection. For quicker response, connect the printer with USB or ensure the Wi-Fi signal is strong and stable.

Enable Auto-Start for HP App

  • In Windows settings, go to Startup Apps.
  • Enable HP App to start automatically.
This keeps the app ready in the background, reducing loading time when you open it.

By updating the HP App, setting your printer as default, and pinning the Scan shortcut, you can reduce the number of steps and get immediate access to scanning. Checking your connection type and enabling auto-start will further improve responsiveness.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
