Hello @Jimtwo,

The HP software must be completely uninstalled and removed of the system.

First download only this complete package: "HP LaserJet Pro MFP M227fdw / Ultra MFP M230fdw Full Feature Software and Drivers ",

1) File name: Full_Webpack-44.11.2775-LJM227-M231_UWWL_4_1_Full_Webpack.exe (184.2 MB)

Then proceed as follows:

Check the system for

  • TuneUp`s
  • Optimization Tools
  • Cleanup Tools

disable them, better uninstall them. Next...

  1. Disconnect printer/scanner from computer- Disable WLAN, WiFi and/or remove the USB or LAN cable.- Do not switch off the printer >> unplug the power cord from the socket!
  2. read this: Uninstall the HP software, drivers, and apps used with HP printers.

Document error messages accurately, even better is to take a screenshot of it and upload here.

Important information:

Thank you for the expert advice.

I had the "Full Feature Software" from a previous download.  Otherwise your instructions were very clear and easy to follow.  The end result was a successful restore.

Thanks again
