Receiving a fax nothing happens after the 3rd ring, apparently the FAX driver hangs up

Receiving a fax nothing happens after the 3rd ring, apparently the FAX driver hangs up.

I have the number of rings set to 6, so I was expecting the rings to continue, and then get the usual fax tones etc. But, instead nothing happened. 

I've tried the following, to no avail:
1. Turning error correction to OFF
2. Running the fax self test from the printer control panel (everything came out positive).
3. Running HP Print and Scan Doctor (although to my understanding the fax function is not checked with this utility).
4. Downloading and installing the lastest version of the Universal Fax Driver

Please note that my printer is relatively new, about a month and a half, and this is only the second time i've had occasion to receive a fax. The first time (Dec. 10) the receive worked well.

Hi,

Try reducing the rings number up to 3 and check if a fax may then recieved.

If it do pick up the fax then, cotact your phone line service provider, it is likely the line hangs up the call after the 3rd ring and therefore the efax won't answer, it amy also occour due to any phone service picking up the call after 3 rings, such as voice mail..
