Help me to understand. In order to actually use the scanner I purchased and is sitting in my dining room and I have been using successfully the last year plus I now have to log into the HP website, which is currently not functioning, so I can't use my scanner. Please help me to remember to never again buy a HP product and never recommend an HP product to any of my friends and family.

I recall you have to use genuine HP ink in most printers.
I do not have an instant ink printer. My understanding is that if you run out of ink, or you cancel your subscription, you can use genuine Hewlett Packard cartridges either original or refilled. They must have an HP chip in the cartridge.
The below type is unlikely to work.
Some HP printers can use non-HP ink
I have the same problem with my Canon photo. On thee other hand, my HP CM1415 laser will take any type of cheap ink but the non-HP ink looks good only in black and white.
Thank you for using HP products and posting to the community.
