Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended

My HP 8620 printer constantly displays the error message "The original is jammed in the ADF." There is no document in the ADF, there is no jam. I have followed troubleshooting and ran the Scan Dr multiple times. I seldom scan and rarely use the ADF, but I cannot clear the error message to read the Menu on the touch screen. I have had this problem since I bought the printer, but now the error message won't go away after restarting as it used to do. Please help.

I was able to fix the issue by removing a screw and opening the ADF wiring cover, I found a loose wire connection and reconnected the wires.  Then I replaced the cover and screw and turned it on.  The printer now works fine.

I have the same issue - how do you get to the ADF wiring stuff?

HP Recommended

First you need a T8 Screwdriver or T8 bit for a ratchet.  Open the lid of the ADF - where documents feed in to be scanned.  At the back you will see a black screw holding the cover of the gears/wiring box.  Unscrew using a T8 driver and the small cover will come off exposing the wiring harnesses that feed the ADF.  Check all the connections and make sure they are tightly secured.   Mine had an obvious loose connection that I pushed together tightly.  Works fine now.

Thanks RK01 - appreciate your response.  Just to be clear, the screw to open the ADF wiring would be in the middle of the back (if you are standing in front of the printer) right?  thanks again

HP Recommended

Yes, very back top of the printer looking from the front.  There is a silver metal clip and silver screw right in front of the black screw.  Only the black screw needs to be removed, leave the silver screw in place.

thanks again - I still need to go out and get a torx screwdriver, but I am HOPING this might work.  Was yours pretty much inoperable on the touchscreen before you fixed it?  I hope this is it, but not overly optimistic based on all the reviews and comments out there on this specific issue....who knows....thanks you

WOW - it worked.  There were two ribbon wires that become unconnected with the white fastner...that's it!  I owe you.  I wish I could buy you a beer!

No problem, glad I could help!  I searched the forums until I read where those wires come unconnected, so I was happy to fix mine too.  Such an easy fix too!  I'll buy me a beer in your honor!  Happy trails...

Followed all the steps and tightened up the wire before I reassembled the printer, tested it and it worked on a test print.  Put the adf wire cover back on and the message reappeared.  Seams to confirm the wire issue but after 1hour of trying to find the loose wire my wife said know when to say when.  Any ideas on how to identify the wire that cause the recurrence of the repeating ADF Jam Message for HP officejet Pro 8620.  We rarely used the ADF over the past 12 months and cannot justify this problem.
