Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

I need help with a minor issue which arose after this case was resolved. The HP scanner App works fine, but every morning I get a dialog box saying that Rescue is asking for access to my computer. During the call re the scanner problem, the tech tried to use the Rescue tool, but was unsuccessful in every attempt to install the tool. So Rescue was actually never installed/used - instead the tech was able to resolve my problem by installing the latest version of the HP Smart scanning app.

I just need to know how to delete/disable the dialog box from showing up again. BTW - I have to click on the Deny Button in order to get remove the box from my screen every morning.

Can you help me with this request? THX - Chris

Hi @CJRHelp,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

To prevent the Rescue dialog box from appearing again, you can try the following steps:

Uninstall the Rescue software: If you no longer need the Rescue software, you can uninstall it from your computer. To do this, go to the Control Panel (Windows) or System Preferences (Mac), find the Rescue software in the list of installed programs, and select the option to uninstall.

Disable the Rescue software startup: If you still need the Rescue software but want to prevent it from starting up automatically, you can disable it from the startup programs list. On Windows, you can do this by opening the Task Manager, going to the Startup tab, finding the Rescue software, and disabling it. On Mac, you can check the Login Items in the Users & Groups section of System Preferences and remove Rescue from the list.

Check for related settings in the printer software: Sometimes, the printer software might have settings related to remote access or support tools. Check the printer software settings for any options related to Rescue or remote access, and disable them if you find any.

If you're unsure about any of the steps or need further assistance, it's a good idea to contact HP support directly. They can provide specific guidance via remote assistance.

If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the Accepted Solution button, that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!
