Reset Pin for HP Printer 8610

I never set a PIN for my home printer. Now I want to scan to email and its asking for a PIN.  I have a standard set of PINs that I use for devices and none of them work so I'm guessing this is something new.

How can I reset the PIN for this?

Have you attempted any steps on your own before posting on the HP Forums?

When was the last time it worked without these issues? 

In the meantime, please try the steps mentioned below:

Usually it will be the router's passkey, If it's the WiFi Direct, then you could try 12345678

You could also check this link which explains about getting the wifi password for the printer.

Thank you for replying. I haven’t done any other steps since none of them clearly explained what to do without all the techie-speak.
I rarely use it as a scanner, so I’d have to say the last time I scanned with it was a year or so ago.
I will try the link you provided and the WiFi password. But my question is : It’s asking for a PIN not a password. I understand Pins are four digits.

Please follow the troubleshooting steps I suggested earlier, and also try 12345678 with the pin. As I said earlier, If it's WiFi direct, then then the default pin is 12345678

Do you mean use 12345678 as the pin or 12345678 plus the pin? Thank you.
