All of a sudden when I attempt to use the scan to email feature, I'm being told the PIN that I've used for years is incorrect. I'm open to any suggestions.

Welcome to HP forums, I see that you are unable to do a scan to email.

  • Which operating system is installed on the computer to which this printer is connected?
  • Did you do any changes to the email address recently?
  • Did you run any updated on the printer?

Meanwhile, perform a power reset

  1. ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.Wait at least 30 seconds.​​​​​​​
  4. Plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector and printer.
  5. Turn on the printer.

Reply with the result of the above-mentioned steps, for further assistance.

I disconnected the power, plugged back in, pressed SCAN - It shows the email I want to scan to and a box to enter a PIN. If I press forgot PIN it says it will send to my email but I don't get an email with a new PIN. Is the email in the email box the one I'm scanning to of my "HP Username"?

I understand your printer is asking for an administrator password. Is the printer connected to the network already? If so, let’s try to fix the issue by following the steps mentioned below:

 

Let's first try to perform a Reset Network Settings on the printer: 

To reset the administrator password and network settings

 

1. From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch ( Setup ).

2. Touch Network Setup.

3. Touch Restore Network Settings.

       A message appears stating that the network defaults will be restored.

4. Touch Yes.

5. Print the network configuration page and verify that the network settings have been reset.

 

If the issue persists, I would suggest here is to try these steps here: 

  • Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to get the IP address.
  • Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
  • Now go to the Security Tab - Administrative Settings.
  • Uncheck the "Control Panel Lock".

If the issue persists, then we will have to completely reset the printer.

Similar issue...  Team that orginally set-up the printer is long gone and in the last day have been unable to scan to email as no one knows the PIN....  Please advise.
