Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended
Envy 4504
Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)

How do I change the location that I send my scan to?  It always defaults to Cloud which is useless as I am not always online when I want to call up my scans.

Also some scans, even with resolution set at 600 dpi come out as file sizes such as 400 kb, 197 kb.  Why so small?

Hi @Welsh_John,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I noticed that you are having some issues when scanning with your HP Envy 4504 printer, on Windows 8. And, I am happy to help!

Use the destination setting in HP Scan to set the folder on your computer where all scan jobs save to.

  1. In HP Scan, click one of the shortcuts, then click Advanced Settings or More.

  2. Click Destination, click Browse next to the Save Location or Save To Folder box, select the folder in the Browse for Folder window, then click OK.

  3. Click OK or the Save icon in the shortcut to save the folder location.

  4. Repeat these steps for each scan shortcut, depending on where you want to save different scan job types.

Regarding the file size of the scans, it depends on what file type you are scanning to. As an example, a PDF file could be larger in size, than say a JPG file and sometimes vice versa. It can depend on what you are scanning as well, if it's high quality images, or documents, etc. There are multiple variables involved with file types and sizes.

Hope this answers your questions, and thank you for posting! 🙂
