@SMITH83, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're having trouble with both scanning and printing on your HP ENVY Inspire 7955e All-in-One Printer. Let's walk through some steps to get everything working again.
Restart Devices
- Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Restart your computer.
- After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in and turn it on.
Check Printer Connection
Make sure your printer is properly connected:
- For Wi-Fi: Ensure the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer. You can check this on the printer's control panel.
- For USB: Ensure the cable is securely connected to both the printer and the computer.
Reinstall or Update HP Smart App
HP Smart is essential for scanning and printing. If you haven’t already:
- Download or update the HP Smart app: HP Smart for Windows/macOS
Once installed:
- Open HP Smart.
- Click Add Printer if your printer isn’t listed.
- Try printing and scanning from the app.
Reset the Printing System (macOS only)
If you're on a Mac:
- Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
- Right-click in the printer list and choose Reset printing system.
- Re-add your printer and try again.
Check for Firmware Updates
Outdated firmware can cause issues:
- Go to the printer’s control panel > Settings > Printer Maintenance > Update the Printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
