I received a refurbished HP printer after a fatal printhead error, my second one in three years. I installed the complete new software and drivers on my Macbook Air. I can print but I cannot scan from the control panel on the printer. There is no "scan options" or scanner tab in my HP Utility. Does anyone know how to solve this problem? I am completely disgusted that you can no longer even call HP support.

Hi,
From your Applications folder or its HP subfolder delete any existing HP Scan or HP Easy Scan application, delete it by moving it to trash, then empty the trash.
Next install the latest HP Easy Scan below, it will be installed within the Applications folder:
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Installations/Essentials/hp-easy-scan-1_...
If you experience any further issues, ensure the latest software is installed by following HP Easy Start below:
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Applications/HP_Easy_Start.app.zip
Finally, ensure your drivers are up to date by clicking the Apple icon, select About this Mac and then press Software Update.
Click Store on the top menu bar, click Reload Page, click Update All if any updated are available.
Now check for Scan to Computer option within HP Utility.

Hi,
I can now scan from the control panel of the printer. Thank you VERY much!! There is, however, still no Scan part of HP Utility so I can't change the destination folder for the scans. Any idea how to get this Scan portion of HP Utility? I followed all of your steps.
