Hello,

Samsung Mono Laser Printer Model Samsung ProXpress SL-M4580 doesn't scan the middle one-third portion of the page. When you scan or copy, it makes a blank vertical band in the middle of the page. When you print from a computer it prints perfectly without any problem. So, it's the scanner section problem.

I thought that was the CIS(Contact Image Sensor) problem so I replaced it with a brand new CIS,  but does the same thing.

Any idea what could be the problem?  Thank You!

Might be the flat CIS cable to the board. If you have a multimeter check both ends for continuity.

Thank you for your reply. I just checked the flat cable but it's okay(it has continuity on all the tracks).
I scanned in Duplex mode (both sides of the paper) and ADF scanner side works fine and only the Flatbed side has the problem. I replaced the CIS and the flat cable it's fine. What else would be the problem? Any idea?

New and old CIS are leaving blank on the same place?

If you have eliminated both CIS and FFC cable then is't the electrinics.

Yes, the blank space is in the exact same place.

I also suspected the electronic problem, but don't have circuit diagram to find possible failures. Does any one have circuit diagram?

I have the exact same issue. Did you find a solution?

HP Recommended

Not yet.  Don't have schematics and no idea what could be wrong.  🙁

To clarify: do you get the same error through the ADF and off the glass? Can you confirm the part number that you replaced. There are two scanner units, the ADF CIS and Platen CIS.

ADF CIS JC82-00375A

Platen CIS 0609-001573

The ADF CIS is only used to scan second side of ADF. Platen CIS scans first side of ADF and from the glass scans.

I have probem only In the Platen CIS 0609-001573.

If I scan simultaneously both pages, the ADF CIS works perfectly.

I bought a brand new Platen CIS at Aliexpress (part # 0609-001573) and replaced but it didn't solve the problem. I was thinking to replace the control board but can't find at Aliexpress. This part in other websites are over priced so instead of paying that money I preferably would purchase a new printer.

Other solution is to repair the control board but I don't have the schematic diagram.
