Hi, I am using the HP 8020 for some time now in combination with the HP SMART Software.

 

For some reason, the standard value for Scan Area had changed to "Letter". How can I change the standard value to "DIN A4"?

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

 

Try this Solution:

  1. Install HP Scan Extended find here: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/
  2. Download this file: HPScanExt.msi
  3. Close all programs

Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo > in folder Downloads double-click on the msi.

OPTIONAL:

    Add HP Scan Extended shortcut to Taskbar / Send to Desktop / Pin to Start
    • Open File Explorer > Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\HP Scan Extended\bin
    • Right-Click on "HPScan.exe" > Select Pin to Taskbar / Send to Desktop / Pin to Start

thank you for your reply.

 

The link does not work for me, however, I was able to get a version of HP Scan Extended. 

 

I am able to open the software and the standard format has been set to DIN A4. 

 

However, the software creates an error when I am starting a Scan:

Try this:

  1. shut down printer via on/off switch
  2. switch off the router
  3. shut down the computer
  4. wait about 60 sec.
  5. switch on the router, wait until the router has completely initialized itself again
  6. Switch on the printer, wait until the printer has finished its initialization
  7. switch on computer, log in (with admin rights) and wait about 10 sec.

... and now everything's working again?
