Every time an A4 sized page is scanned, part of the page is cut off in the scan. This happens both with the document feeder and the manual placement on the screen. This could be due to the scan being set for a Letter sized document.
I have set the printer to A4 for print documents but do not know how to adjust for A4 for scan.
Any suggestions?

Hey there! @mikef65, Thank you for joining the HP Forums!
I understand that part of page cuts off during the scan on your printer.
Please try to perform a copy option and check if the pages are cutting off during the copy function.
If yes then it could be a hardware issue.
If copy option works fine without cutting off the pages then it could be a driver issue.
You can update drivers using the link below.

Thanks this did help in a round about way as the reinstallation provided a settings menu that now included the settings of the scan function. The normal settings menu via the control panel does not provide this. Re-set letter to A4 and problem solved!
