Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).
Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

Microsoft Windows 11

I have an HP ProDesk and a LaserJet M479. The HP Smart scan software does not allow for scanning multiple documents in to separate files so I was using HP Scan and Capture. HP Scan and Capture no longer works and can't find my printer. Uninstalling and reinstalling the software does not resolve the issue.

What other options are available to scan multiple documents at once in to separate files? We scan hundreds of documents a week and having to do each one individually is a huge waste of time.

Hi,

From HP Smart you may select to save as JPEG and then the pages would be seperated.

Other than that you may use HP Scan instead, please follow HP Easy Start below and select the Basic or Full Feature Software option within the Software Selection screen, then complete the software installation:

HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads

From within HP Scan either scan to JPEG which produce a different file for each page.

If you would like to scan a PDF select PDF and click More >

Click the Destination tab and click the PDF drop-down menu, then check the box to create a separate file for each page and save the changes.

You are correct @KS2583, the software utility was updated to a later version later at the same day of posting the link:

Thank you for the updated link. Unfortunately this software won't complete the install. It detects my printer in the beginning of the install but when I get to the part where you choose to install by connecting the USB cable it will not move past that part. Unplugging and re-plugging the cable doesn't do anything. There is an option to continue installation and connect the deivce later. Choosing that option does not complete the installation it closes the installer with a message to double click the icon on the desktop to complete set up. That just brings you back to the same situation. Its extremely frustrating.

Please unplug the USB cable and from the Start menu click on Settings, then select Devices and select Printers & Scanners.

Select and instance of your printer or any other HP print queue if this is your only HP printer and select Remove Device, then restart your PC.

Next, go again to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners and click Print Server Properties from the right pane.

Open the Drivers tab and remove any listed HP Printer, select the 2nd option to remove both the driver and its package.

If you see Microsoft IPP Class Driver remove it as well.

Now click the HP Printer icon on your desktop, select Connect a New Device and follow the steps on screen, be sure to connect the USB cable only once prompt to do so and check for any difference.

Please let me know the results,

Shlomi
