I have read a number of requests for this in this forum and not found an answer that works for me.

 

I specifically want a desktop or taskbar icon that takes me to the scan function NOT to the HP Smart front screen where I have to select scan. Why do I have to click start, click hpsmart, wait.... and click again when all previous HP and other all-in-one products I have owned gave me a one step shortcut. Don't give me the HP Smart desktop shortcut as the solution - which I see someone suggested.

Can you download and install the FULL featured printer software from HP for your operating system:
https://support.hp.com/sg-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-envy-5000-all-in-one-printer-series/14...


Once you have downloaded and installed the FULL feature software, you will be able to print and scan.

At time 2:45, you can see the Scan Shortcut on the desktop!

Well I want to undo the 'accepted solution' !!

 

It installed smoothly, the scan icon appeared on the desktop.

 

I thought great, sorted......

 

Posted here foolishly before clicking on the icon.....

 

"The HP ENVY 5000 was not found."

 

**bleep**

 

The old HP Smart software still works so it isn't my printer or its connection to my PC.

 

OK a reboot of the PC sorted it, but the install didn't advise.
