Hi all, I just bought a new MacBook Air with Big Sur (OS11.4).

After installing the software for my HP MFP printer, I cannot see how to use the scanner. Printing goes well. Can anybody help me?

What software are you using on your Computer for scanning?

 

Ensure that the printer is up to date with its firmware . If you are unsure you may use the links below to update the printer firmware:

Thank you for your reply.

 

You asked what software I am using on my computer. It is OS 11.4 on a MacBook Air. I installed it via Time System from my old MacBook. On that notebook, the printer and scanner still works fine.

 

I have tried all options you gave me. 

 

  1. On the printer itself, this does not work. It says "check firmware".
  2. Via MacBook, I found the printer I have and downloaded the HP easy Scan software. This directed me to the HP smart app. This found the Laserjet CM1415fn color MFP. But in the end it says “printer status unknown”.

 

It there a possibility to get the firmware elsewhere?

Dear Betty,

 

Thank you for your mail. The link you have sent me, directs me to the software for my printer/scanner. But this software I already have installed. But the scanner still doesn't work. I cannot select a scanner.

On my old MacBook it works perfectly. But the new Mac Book doesn't see a scanner.

 

I hope there is another way to make it work.

I have checked the FAQ as well. I have found a way to print via a browser. Printing is going perfect but is still doesn't recotnize the scanner.

Download HP easy Scan from the App store and try scanning or use the Apple image capture.

Still no solution.

 

I have removed the printer and installed the easy scan software.

 

After restarting the computer I went to preferences and installed the printer again. The computer only sees the CM1415 and is printing well. 

 

Easy scan don't see any devices. If you click on "Choose a scanner" There is no device you can choose.

 

I have tried everything, but nothing works.
