Hello Everyone,

The scanned documents come out tilted by 1 degree .

To align the docs,  | use "Hp Smart" software (Edit/angle),  but the aligning properties cannot be saved and needs to be reinserted every scan.

I would be happy to have a solution

Hi Ido.

You can easily save the changes by changing the scan settings as described to check the box (Straighten Content) and press OK, then click the Disk icon shown near the scan shortcut name on the left pane, that will save the setting as a default for future scans.

Greetings!

Welcome to the HP Support Community. This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries. I have reviewed your post and I understand, the scans are skewed.

Don’t worry, I’m here to help! To better assist you -

1) Are you experiencing the same issue while making a copy as well?
2) Are you trying to scan from ADF or flatbed?

While you respond to that, let's try these steps -

1) Take out the cartridges.
2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.
3) Wait for 30 seconds.
4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not to a surge protector.
5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

If you are scanning from the ADF, try cleaning the rollers -

We need:

  • A clean, lint-free cloth, or any cloth that does not come apart or leave fibers
  • Distilled, filtered, or bottled water (tap water might damage the printer)

1) Remove the original document from the ADF.
2) Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
3) Open the ADF cover and find the paper pick rollers and the separator pad inside the ADF.

The paper pick rollers and separator pad

4) Lightly dampen a clean, lint-free cloth with filtered or distilled water, then squeeze any excess liquid from the cloth.
5) Use the damp cloth to wipe any residue off the paper pick rollers and the separator pad.
6) Leave the ADF cover open for two minutes to allow the paper pick rollers and separator pad to dry and then close the ADF cover.
7) Reload the original document print side up in the document feeder tray. Gently slide the document into the printer as far as it can go.
8) Slide in the paper width guides until they are snug against the paper.
9) Do not push the paper width guides in so far that they bend the paper.
10) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
11) Turn on the printer, then try to scan.

Hope this helps!

Let me know how that goes.

Dear Asmita,

The issue still remains...

I get skewed scans regardless the source (either Scanner glass or Feeder) and I do not get the issue when coping.

I followed the steps in the first part of your reply but the skewed remained.

Since the skew still appears in the Scanner Glass, I did not follow the insturction for ADF cleaning in the second part the ADF

Do you have an advice for me?

Best Regards,

Ido

Hi Ido, thanks for getting back to us.

Let's try these steps -

Step 1 HP Print and Scan Doctor -

Click on this link to download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor.

Step 2 Re-install the printer drivers -

1) In the search box, type and open "Uninstall a Program".
2) Look for HP Printer software.
3) Right-click to uninstall.
4) In the search box, type
and open “Devices and printers”.
5) In the Devices and Printers, look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose “Delete” or “Remove Device”.
6) Open the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”).
8) Click on the "Drivers" tab.
9) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click “Remove” at the bottom.
10) Select Ok.
11) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows.
12) Close Devices and Printers Once the software and drivers are removed.
13) Restart the computer.
14) Download and install the software and drivers from here.

Keep me posted.

Hi Atzmita,

I uninstalled and reinstalled the HP driver, and used the scan doctor.

I still get the skewed scan (see attached)

Hi,

Have you installed the HP Full Feature Software as well? what happens when you scan from the HP Scan software?

To access it click the HP Deskjet 5200 icon on your desktop, within the scan tab click on Scan a document or photo and then try scanning.

I would also suggest selecting Scan as PDF, then click on More > Document and check the box next to Straighten Content, press OK and try scanning.

If you cannot locate the HP Software follow the HP Print and Scan Doctor once again and be sure to follow the steps to install the Full Feature HP Software.

Thanks Shlomi,

I followed your instructions and indeed the "Streitghen Content" checkbox corrects the skew....  that is very good but It is only half way, since It seems that the scan properties can not be saved (At least I did not find the way to save the scan properties).

This means that every time I scan I need to remember to check the box.

Is it a way to save the scanning configuration for the next scan?

Hi

It should be easy to understand thaat this problem does not have anything to do with the computer och drivers in the computers at all. The problem is inbuilt in the HP printer/scanner!

Disapointed new customer. Had a Brother multi printer before and never this kind of problem then!

I have over 35 years of experience in electronics and computing and I can not believe what kind of solutions HP is comming with. It is clear that they don whant to understand that the problem is HP not the user, not the computer and not drivers, because HP printer could stand out in the desert 1000 miles from anything and still create this problem.

When HP scan it create som kind of distortion, results is wrapped and that means that the deviations on scanned items is not equal from corner to corner. It does not matter if printing out scanned document or if it is saved to a file.

It is absolute NOT okay to tell customers to fix the problem with editing software as hp scan tool or similar to correct the wrong and bad scanning by HP product. It is a shame of this brand and I have to revidate my opinion of HP. It was better many years before!
